Bușteni, 2024
I had the pleasure of collaborating with the architecture studio MPDesignOffice, the team behind the interior design of Valedor Boutique Hotel & SPA in Bușteni. For this project, I created a series of custom graphic works designed for the hotel’s 30 rooms. These included artwork for the upholstered headboards, several wallpaper patterns for the apartment-type rooms, and a curated collection of framed illustrations decorating the walls.
All the illustrations developed for this interior project are part of my personal collection titled “Ancestral Romanian Symbolism”, a body of work inspired by Romanian folklore. The visual theme follows the interior design concept of the hotel, rooted in traditional Romanian art, its materials, textures, and decorative motifs.
The hotel is located in a mountainous region, surrounded by the Carpathian Mountains, with a direct view of the Caraiman Cross, a defining symbol of the area. For this reason, the client wished to include a subtle detail in the proposed graphics, one that would evoke the spirit of the place and connect the artwork to the landscape in which the hotel resides.
Through this collaboration, tradition and contemporary design come together to create a warm, meaningful, and uniquely Romanian atmosphere for the guests of the hotel.
