I am an interior architect and artist working under the name ABO. I was born in 1992 in Botoșani, and currently live and create in Bucharest, Romania.

I would define my art as a symbiosis of moods, thoughts, symbols, with elements inspired by various visual, auditory, literary or travel and discovery experiences that leave a lasting imprint on my imagination. I am deeply inspired by the theme of human creation and the strong connection between human, nature, and the universe , the link between the divine and the earthly.

My illustrations are a visual translation of an imaginary journey through a poetic, timeless, and spaceless universe, where vegetal elements intertwine with cosmic ones. My art explores the deep relationship between interior and exterior, spirit and matter, tradition and modernity. It is rooted in emotions, memories, and perceptions, with a strong focus on symbolism inviting the viewer into an introspective dialogue. It also reflects on identity, both personal and collective, blending cultural and spiritual influences into a unified visual language.

The dominant chromatic palette, centered on black and gold, symbolizes earth as the original matter and light as vital energy. The compositions are inhabited by monumental, hieratic figures, often dressed in traditional Romanian attire, inviting silent meditation and contemplation.

I am fascinated by the ancestral and timeless by vernacular architecture and the mythical essence of folklore and antiquity which I perceive as a dreamlike world, a place of origin and wonder. This inspires me to create illustrations that gently transport the viewer to a realm of reverie. 

I work with ink, watercolor, and fine liners on paper. My architectural background grounds my illustrations in precision and the purity of line. Stylistically, my art is a synthesis of visual languages: abstract and graphic atmospheres echoing Byzantine icons, oriental miniatures, Japanese minimalism, and Romanian folklore.
