Cotroceni Creativ Contest, 2nd Edition, National Cotroceni Museum, Bucharest

I had the joy of being one of the winners of the object design competition ”Cotroceni Creativ’’, organized by the National Cotroceni Museum. The theme of the 2023 edition was  focused on the childhood of the members of the Royal Family.

While researching historical photographs, I came across a tender and beautiful image of young King Michael with his grandmother, Queen Marie. The monumental presence of Queen Marie dressed in traditional Romanian garments stands not only as a symbol of the royal family but also as an emblem of national identity. The decorative elements, floral motifs, golden accents, are reflective of the Art Nouveau style embraced and promoted by the Queen. 

I created postcards featuring this illustration, evoking the way thoughts and memories were once shared across distances. Another object in the collection is a tote bag, a practical item suitable for all ages, as well as a children’s T-shirt adorned with the illustrated graphic of royal childhood. These  three different types of objects were produced using the illustration’s graphic design, each with the potential to become a meaningful souvenir item for the museum shop.
